SF2G: bike to work day 2010

Bike to Work Day, 2010 - Thurs. May 13

NEW! See where the Ride Leaders are in sorta real-ish time!

Live in SF and work in the south bay somewhere? Join SF2G for BTWD! Our goal this year is over 200 riders, so please join in!

Clarification: The meetup point is at 24th and Mission, on the southeast corner near the bart station, not at Ritual Roasters.

The plan is to ride either the Standard Bayway Route (~42 miles) OR the BART-to-Millbrae ("Millbway") variant (~30 miles, dead flat). Pace will be relaxed, in the 15mph range. Please be sure your bike is ready and you are capable of riding 40+ miles. We will have sweepers to guide everyone, but we can't carry you :)

  • Arrive at 24th and Mission - 06:15. Don't miss being in the group photo!
  • rollout at 06:30 sharp (or get on BART, if starting from Millbrae, see below)
  • 2.5-3 hours ride time (arrive in mountain view about 9:30-10)
  • Lost? call Scott Crosby (full Bayway) or Ben Kochie (Millbway)

"Millbway" transit info

  • BART Times: Civic Center: 6:37am, 16th & Mission: 6:39 am, 24th & Mission 6:41 am - Arrives 7:06am
    • You need to have $4.10 on a bart card for the ride from 24th and Mission.
    • If you are leaving from the 24th and Mission station we will meet up on the street with the rest of the sf2g crew at 6:15am. We will head down to the Bart platform at 6:30 sharp.
  • Caltrain Times: #210 - 4th & King: 6:44am, 22nd St: 6:49am - Arrives 7:01am
    • You'll need a ticket from Zone 1 to Zone 2 ($4.25)
  • Be 5min early! You will need time to get tickets and get your bike onto the train. This is especially important for Caltrain, there tend to be a lot of bikes to load and only one door.
  • TransLink is a great option to pay for BART or Caltrain. Translink cards can be picked up at just about any Walgreens or Safeway in SF. Add $20 in stored value cash and tag onto the train. Don't forget to tag off on caltrain or you will be charged a maxium fare.

General resources

There will be Energizer Stations along the way for refueling/water and moral support. And if you work at Google, there will be breakfast until 10:30, cool!
